Original design and creativity
The production range of Dresdner Puppenmanufaktur includes more than 150 dolls, puppets and animals, all of which are completely hand-made in a traditional way that goes back 50 years. The nose, eyes, ears, mouth, cheeks and forehead are shaped using cotton-wool padding and are then elaborated using a complicated traditional stuff-and-pull technique to create the typical features of each character. Once fully formed, the head is either embroidered or painted with CE-certified paints.
Each artist has her own style, ensuring that no two heads are identical. That makes each doll or puppet unique.

From design to production
All our products - animals, dolls and puppets - are cut on our own premises. The clothes and bodies are produced in our sewing workshop and stuffed by hand or machine with cotton-wool or sheep's wool. During the final stage in the process, the faces are finished, hair, hats or other accessories are sewn on and the figure is dressed in appropriate clothes.
No figure leaves our manufactory without every detail being checked for conformity with our high quality standards.
The sewing workshop: high-quality production using modern sewing machines
Air-brush: colours and details are added to suit the character of the figure; sometimes the air-brush technique is used
Stuffing: each figure is individually stuffed with cotton wool either by hand or using a machine.
